The Three Unhealthy “Healthy Oils” You Should Never Eat!
Every day, we are bombarded by so many articles that quote “the miracle qualities” of this and that refined, vegetable oil that is supposed to be a “healthier option” for those natural oils that are full of fats – good fats, that is. Didn’t our island ancestors use to survive on just coconuts, coconut oil and all the other by-products of the wondrous coconut tree?
And here they are – all the literature and all the advertising that promotes the thinking and the belief that one must shift to “refined, chemical laden and mass-produced vegetable oils” every day!
But this blog post is not about the wonderful qualities of coconut oil. I’d like to discuss those supposedly “healthier oils” that the consumer world is espousing and promoting to be better in terms of health benefits for cancer patients.
So here are the 3 vegetable oils that I hope you would avoid. If you are a loyal user of any of these 3 oils, then I strongly suggest that you observe very carefully how it complements your health habits or address your needs as a cancer patient. Read its labels very well and determine what is exactly in each:
Canola oil is a newer processed version of rapeseed oil (a member of the mustard family). It has been used by Indians and Asians for several centuries. There is no such thing as a “natural canola oil”.
What is alarming here is the rape plant which canola oil derives its oil possesses cyanide-containing compounds which insects and wild animals avoid it in its natural, original form. Moreover, the rapeseed oil is then exposed to high heat as part of its bleaching and refining process, thus reducing its Omega 3 fatty acid content.
Considered as “Franken food”, which means it has GMO content. Canola oil is connected to fatty degeneration of the kidneys, thyroid gland, heart, and adrenals. Be wary of their content by checking product labels carefully.
Safflower Oil is supposedly a healthier option than animal fats. But what is supposed to be a healthier swap became a deadly option to health. Safflower oil is high in Omega-6 fatty acid compared to Omega-3 fatty acid. More Omega-6 fatty acids in the diet have caused some concern in the industry. Since studies showed that cholesterol levels of consumers of Omega-6 fatty acids went down. But the rates of death from coronary artery disease and cardiovascular disease rise compared to eating animal fats.
More studies are still being conducted on Safflower Oil.
Oh, the lowly but resilient soybean oil! There was one time when everyone was singing praises for soybean oil and soybean milk. Many reports have it that because of its popularity with Asian populations and countries, soybean oil is the biggest “healthy food option”!
The truth is Asians consume soybean in its fermented state. While 93% of American soybean is made up of GMO and dine on it in its unfermented state.
But that isn’t the worse news! Soybean oil is connected to numerous thyroid damage and hormone disruption. This is due to phytoestrogens, similar to estrogen compounds. No wonder that Americans leading causes of death are heart disease-related. And this is because they consume about 80% of soybean oil.
So, what other lies have the so-called big manufacturing health food companies been telling you lately?
