For over 30 years, we believed that mammography is the primary weapon against breast cancer. However, this proposition has been disproved. It is revealed that the 1.3 million cases of cancer in the United States could have been 0 without mammography!
A new study entitled Effect of Three Decades Screening Mammography on Breast Cancer Incidence, published in the New England Journal of Medicine, gained the attention of mainstream medicine as it discusses the possibility that mammography has been the cause of breast cancer for millions of women who adopted it in the past. Breast cancer overdiagnosis mostly happens to women below 40 years old.
Not all tumors detected through mammography are cancerous. During the past 30 years, thousands of women could have been saved from conventional treatments which just weakened them, and eventually put them to death. For instance, a tumor which is tagged as ductal carcinoma in situ (DCIS) is detected in mammography as breast cancer. However, DCIS is a non-invasive breast cancer — meaning, it expands outward, producing no contradiction. DCIS, if left untreated, will not progress and harm the body.
The Lancet Oncology even published a study with an associated finding which is stated below:
[We] believe many invasive breast cancers detected by repeated mammography screening do not persist to be detected by screening at the end of 6 years, suggesting that the natural course of many of the screen-detected invasive breast cancers is to spontaneously regress.
Mammography doubled the number of cases of early-stage breast cancer detected each year. This is due to the harmful effects of overdiagnosis and overtreatment have given to women. These may include chemo, radiation, lumpectomy, and hormone therapy. Added to these are stress and depression which the patient can encounter because of the diagnosis and mixture of drugs in her body.
Chemo and radiation, emphasized, actually increase the risk of highly malignant stem cells and relatively non-malignant daughter cells’ proportion within the tumor colony. Moreover, conventional antibiotics cause resistance to surviving stem-cell enriched tumor populations which can progress into metastases. Radiation, taken singularly, also make breast cancer cells 30 times malignant! Even x-rays have unique carcinogenicity. A 30 kVp radiation (low energy) are 300-400x more carcinogenic than atomic bomb blasts (20- kVp or ++)! It’s as if x-ray based mammography have been planting the seeds of breast cancer populations.
