Most Cancers are Caused by Processed Foods and Toxic Ingredients
A study out of Canada showed that the total amount of cancer rates that can be linked to lifestyle and environmental factors is a substantial 41%. Quoting the researchers of this study, they said, “We estimated summary population attributable risk estimates for 24 risk factors . . . by combining population attributable risk estimates for each of the 24 that had been previously estimated.”
These 24 risk estimates are: smoking (both active and passive), obesity and overweight, diet (not enough fruit and vegetable consumption, inadequate fiber intake, excess red and processed meat consumption, inadequate calcium, salt consumption and inadequate vitamin D intake), hormones (hormone therapy and oral contraceptives), alcohol, air pollution, infections [Hepatitis B and C viruses, human papillomavirus, helicobacter pylori, Epstein-Barr virus], natural and artificial ultraviolet radiation, radon and water disinfection by-products.
About 40.8% of cancer cases are attributed to the 24 factors mentioned above. When ranked, Tobacco Smoking was the single biggest factor, accounting for 15.7% of all cancer cases (total of 2,485 cases). Followed by physical inactivity and excess body weight, which represented 7.2% and 4.3% of incidence of cancer cases, respectively.
Another 4% of cancer cases were attributed to other factors. Researchers concluded that combined exercise with a conscious effort just to avoid environmental factors that help develop cancer is effective.
Sugar a Culprit to Cancer?
A big factor to what is considered as a “bad diet” and a likely contributing factor to cancer is “eating too many sugars”! Currently, about 80% of all packaged products now have some form of fructose.
Likewise, too much fat intake is also not good for the body. A July 2017 study published in the Journal of Clinical Oncology showed that a high saturated fat intake is connected to a risk of developing lung cancer in smokers or those who have quit smoking for at least 10 years.
Likewise, frequent eating of barbecued or charred meats can increase the risk of developing breast and pancreatic cancers.
What can be considered as the “crowning accomplishment” is the consumption of processed foods. “Processed foods” is represent any food that has been changed from its natural state to another state for convenience’s sake.
Some of the most common processed foods include bread, breakfast cereals, savory snacks such as biscuits and crisps, microwaveable or ready-to-eat meals, canned and frozen vegetables, process meats such as luncheon meat, spam or jerky. Also a drinks such as coffee, juice and milk; oils, drinks such as juice, coffee and milk.
What we strongly recommend especially for cancer patients, is to remove any heavily processed foods such as deli meats. They are high in nitrates, nitrites, and salt which are likely to cause cancer. Researcher said eating 50 grams of processed meat everyday is bound to increase one’s risk of colorectal cancer by 18%.
